  • What is a Smile Care Plan® for a patient?
    A Smile Care Plan® includes 2 sets of retainers and access to future retainers at discounted member pricing. It also includes our premium retainer case. Patients can enjoy the benefits of regular retainer placement shipped directly to their homes!
  • What happens after a patient uses their Smile Care Plan® retainers?
    After the one year mark, the patient will be enrolled in another yearly subscription with retainers shipped every 6 months and will continue enjoying the benefits of regular retainer replacement. They can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time prior to the renewal date in the patient portal. If a patient needs an extra set of retainers, they’ll have access to discounted member pricing.
  • Can there be multiple family members on one account?
    Yes. There will be a primary adult account holder and they can have multiple family members in their account. Each member can have their own plan and their own anniversary.
  • How does a Retainer Club Smile Care Plan® subscription work?
    We offer annual replacement plans where patients can choose how many fresh sets of retainers they would like to receive a year, with access to future retainers at discounted member pricing.
  • Do I need a 3-D Scanner to be a Retainer Club Partner?
    Yes, all of our retainers are made from a 3D scan - we do not accept impressions. We accept scans from almost every scanner manufacturer as well as EasyRx. (For instructions, simply click on "Scan" in the navigation above for setup instructions).
  • How do I send scans to Retainer Club?
    We accept 3D scans from all major scanner manufacturers. We are a registered lab for iTero and you can submit iRecord scans by following instructions HERE to add Retainer Club to your iTero machines. We are also a registered lab on EasyRx - if you use this software you can send us your scans through their portal. We can also accept .stl files through Dropbox or email them to scans@retainerclub.com. Have scan questions? Our team is happy to assist.
  • Does Retainer Club use EasyRx?
    Yes. We are a registered lab on the EasyRx portal
  • Does Retainer Club integrate with my Practice Management System (PMS)?
    Not at this time. Our Retainer Club Development team is constantly updating the RC2 platform and PMS integration is on the roadmap. We will announce API integrations as they become available. Feel free to check in with the sales team anytime!
  • Do I need a 3D scanner to partner with Retainer Club?

  • What is a Smile Care Plan for my office?

  • Do you partner with offices outside of the United States?
    Currently, we do not, but we are working to expand into Canada in 2024.
  • Can I refuse a patient who calls from finding us on the Retainer Club Partner Locator
    We are in Partnership with your practice and rely on you to determine which patients are a good fit for Retainer Club. You can refuse scanning or retainers for any patient based on your clinical observation or ability to service a certain patient type in your practice. Most practices find that patients who find their office through our Partner Locator are excellent patients and their interest in getting retainers often leads to the introduction to family and friends in the community. These introductions will grow the practice and frequently bring in new cases.
  • Does Retainer Club Perform Orthodontic Treatment?
    No, we work with a network of dental and orthodontic partners to help them service their retainer patients. Retainer Club is a post-treatment service designed to simply retain the patient's teeth in their final position. We do not straighten or otherwise move your patient's teeth and any request to do so or otherwise provide treatment is always redirected back to our partner office.
  • Can I use Retainer Club for Phase 1 patients?
    No. Retainer Club is currently only available for patients with full permanent dentition.
  • How long does it take for retainers to arrive at our office/ the patients home?
    Once we receive the completed order from the patient, and the 3D scan from your office, we turn retainers around in 2 business days. We use USPS First Class for our standard shipping which gets around the continental US by day 7. Expedited shipping is an option for an additional fee.
  • What if I Don't Have a Scan for a Patient?
    The best (and only) way for Retainer Club to bring 24/7 online services to your patients is to scan all of your patients at the end of treatment. If a patient doesn’t have a scan and wants retainers - we recommend you schedule them for a scan in your office.
  • What is the Perfect Fit Guarantee? Does this cover lost retainers?
    If there is a fit or manufacturing issue - we will remake the set at no charge to the patient. This does not cover lost retainers or changes in lab preferences. For more information go to this LINK. You can begin a Perfect Fit Guarantee replacement by filling out this short form HERE.
  • What Material are Retainer Club Retainers Made Of?
    At Retainer Club we use the highest quality material - we specialize in clear retainers made from a positive pressure thermoforming machine. Our standard material is .035 thickness. We currently use primarily Taglus or Zendura A
  • Do you block out for lingual retainers?
    Yes. We automatically add blockout around upper and/ or lower permanent retainers. We also block out areas of deep interproximal undercuts to allow for a better fit. Use the lab information section of your referral to request virtual blockout of other areas.
  • Can you virtually remove braces? How much does it cost?
    We are happy to virtually remove braces or aligner attachments at no charge. This is one of the many services we offer as a benefit of being a Retainer Club Partner.
  • Does Retainer Club make Hawley retainers?
    No. We only make clear 'Essix style' retainers for permanent dentition patients.
  • Can I send in models?
    No, you cannot send models. We are 100% digital, and we only accept 3D scans. We are scanner agnostic and can work with any 3D scanner. You can read more about scan integration on our blog.
  • Can you add pontics to retainers?
    Yes. We can add pontic space in the anterior of our retainers. We do not add the tooth colored resin. We ask that you do that in office to ensure the patient is happy with the color.
  • Are there cases that Retainer Club will refuse?
    The primary goal of Retainer Club is provide the remote delivery of retainers that fit perfectly and maintain the patient's orthodontic results. The majority of patients are a great fit for our services. With that in mind, there are several dental situations that we've found are not appropriate for the remote delivery of retainers: Less than 10 teeth on either arch Teeth with temporary crowns Teeth with removable partial dentures Phase 1 patients - Mixed Dentition Patients with history of difficulty removing retainers Patients with moderate or higher periodontal loss Patients with loose teeth due to poor bone support or trauma Patients with a history of needing adjustment of retainers at each delivery If you have a question about a case, reach out to our team at 888-400-3829
